Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has sparked a big controversy ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025. RCB is mocking Mumbai Indians (MI) over its captaincy drama. Before the 2025 Indian Premier League, RCB named Rajat Patidar as the team's captain after Faf du Plessis was released last year. Patidar got video greetings from his predecessors, including Faf and Virat Kohli, wishing him success for the season at his formal unveiling as captain. Nonetheless, 'Mr. Nags' of RCB chose to make a playful jab at MI over the same incident.
Last year, Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans, and he was named as captain of MI. After this Rohit Sharma was off his captain duties for the team and there were reports of a rift between the two players. MI fans did not approve of Hardik replacing Rohit Sharma.
In a video shared by RCB, Mr. Nags asked Patidar, "So, Rajat, you became captain, all former RCB skippers have given you their approval. Like Virat messaged you, Faf messaged you. Do you think other teams also should have followed a similar strategy while announcing captaincy?" But Patidar decided to play it safe. He said, "I'm sorry, I never followed what's going on and what's not going on." To this Mr. Nags replied, "Oh, so innocent, Rajat. You really don't know? Really, I don't know? Then why are you smiling? See, basically, he said 'MI nahi janta 'MI'," Mr. Nags added.
After this people started enjoying the roast and made memes out of it.

The IPL 2025 match between RCB and MI is scheduled for April 7 in Mumbai. In the past, the Mumbai Indians have defeated RCB 19 times out of 33 IPL matches. On March 22, RCB and KKR square off in the season opener at Kolkata's famed Eden Gardens. Ideally, they want to get off to a strong start. The starting lineup for tomorrow's opener would be intriguing to watch.
