Cricket star Virat Kohli and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan stole the show at the IPL 2025 opening ceremony with a high-energy dance to “Jhoome Jo Pathaan.” The packed Eden Gardens erupted in applause as the duo shared the stage in a moment that thrilled fans.

The highlight of the night came when Shah Rukh Khan introduced Kohli as the “GOAT” of the IPL, celebrating his long-standing association with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. As Kohli walked onto the stage, SRK broke into loud “Kohli Kohli” chants, prompting the crowd to join in. The noise was so deafening that the two couldn’t chat for several minutes.

“Virat bhai is the only player who has been associated with just one team in the entirety of the IPL. He is the OG. The GOAT of IPL,” Shah Rukh said. Kohli, visibly blushing, thanked him for the introduction. “The bold generation is coming along nicely, but the old generation is still here. Ready to make an impact, still ready to play the game and keep creating memories for these fans,” Kohli said.

Kohli also received a special memento from BCCI President Roger Binny as the 18th edition of the IPL was officially declared open.
