Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta was visibly emotional and thrilled as her team secured a remarkable 16-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025 match on Tuesday. Zinta rushed onto the field to hug Yuzvendra Chahal, who played a pivotal role in the win with a match-winning spell of 4 for 28. The game, held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, saw Punjab defend a modest total of 111 runs. This was the lowest total ever successfully defended in IPL history. Chahal’s bowling performance was instrumental in securing the historic win.
Zinta, who had been in the stands throughout the match, celebrated with childlike joy. She was seen jumping and clapping as the final wicket fell, and her celebration quickly went viral on social media. It became one of the most memorable moments of the season.

The match had begun poorly for Punjab Kings. The team was bowled out for just 111 runs in 15.3 overs after a series of disappointing performances. Glenn Maxwell struggled again. Captain Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for a duck, and debutant Josh Inglis was out early. Kolkata Knight Riders were heavy favourites to chase down the target.
However, Chahal’s brilliance turned the match around. With KKR at 62 for 2 and an overwhelming 98 percent chance of victory, Chahal entered the attack and sparked a dramatic collapse. He dismissed Rahane, Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh to help bowl KKR out for just 95 in 15.1 overs.
