Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar ignored KL Rahul during the post-match handshake following RCB’s six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. A video of the moment has gone viral on social media, showing Patidar walking past Rahul without acknowledging him. As players from both teams lined up, Rahul was seen greeting Suyash Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Virat Kohli, and Phil Salt. However, when Patidar approached, he walked past the Delhi Capitals star without a glance. Rahul remained unfazed and continued the handshake line, greeting Krunal Pandya and Tim David. The moment has drawn comparisons to MS Dhoni’s controversial exit last season when he left the field without shaking hands after CSK’s playoff elimination. Whether Patidar’s act was intentional or a result of frustration, it has sparked widespread criticism online.

On the field, Rahul delivered a match-winning performance against his former franchise. He played a captain’s knock, scoring an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls. Delhi Capitals were struggling at 30 for 3 in 4.3 overs, but Rahul took control and guided his team to a comfortable win. DC chased down the 164-run target in just 17.5 overs.

After sealing the victory, Rahul celebrated in front of the Bengaluru crowd by pointing to his badge and stating, “Ye mera ground hai” (This is my ground). At the post-match presentation, he explained the gesture, saying it was inspired by the film Kantara and was a tribute to his roots.

Tristan Stubbs played a supporting role with an unbeaten 38 off 23 deliveries. Speaking after the match, Stubbs praised Rahul’s innings, saying he did not have to do much. “It was really satisfying. It came in a tricky situation, but the run rate never got out of hand,” Stubbs said. “To be honest, I didn’t have to do much with the way KL batted.”

Delhi Capitals are currently in second place on the points table with eight points from four matches. They have secured four consecutive victories and will take on Mumbai Indians in their next match on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
