Veteran leg-spinner Karn Sharma has been bought by Mumbai Indians for his base price of INR 50 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 37-year-old, known for his valuable contributions with both the ball and the bat, will add depth to Mumbai's spin attack.
Sharma, who has represented Railways in domestic cricket and has also played for Team India across all three formats, has a wealth of IPL experience. His IPL journey began in 2009 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, though his early years saw limited action. He later became a regular in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad from 2013 to 2016, where he helped the team secure the IPL title in 2016.
The following seasons saw Sharma move to Mumbai Indians, where he won his second IPL title in 2017, before joining Chennai Super Kings in 2018, where he claimed a third IPL title. Over the course of his IPL career, he has played for four teams—RCB, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings—featuring in 84 matches, taking 76 wickets, and scoring 351 runs.
Sharma’s experience and proven track record make him a valuable acquisition for Mumbai Indians, who secured him at the base price in the 2025 auction.
