Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah has been fined 50% of his match fees for breaching Level 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I against New Zealand on Sunday.

According to an official statement by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Khushdil was found guilty of violating Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This article relates to "inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person."

The incident occurred in the eighth over of Pakistan’s innings when Khushdil made inappropriate physical contact with bowler Zakary Foulkes while running between the wickets. The ICC deemed the episode "reckless, negligent, and avoidable."

Khushdil admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, avoiding the need for a formal hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Wayne Knights and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Kim Cotton, and fourth umpire Chris Brown.

A Level 2 breach carries a penalty of 50% to 100% of a player’s match fee or up to two suspension points.
