Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their third win of the IPL 2025 season, defeating Mumbai Indians by 12 runs at Wankhede Stadium. This victory marked RCB’s first win at the venue in 10 years. Skipper Rajat Patidar led from the front with a 64-run knock off 32 balls, guiding his team to a commanding total. This was Patidar’s second fifty of the season, following his match-winning performance against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on March 28. Notably, RCB had also broken a 17-year winless streak at Chepauk in that match.

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, RCB lost opener Phil Salt early as Trent Boult struck on the second ball of the innings. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal then built a solid partnership of 91 runs for the second wicket. Padikkal contributed 37 off 22 balls before departing. Kohli, who looked in fine touch, added 48 runs for the third wicket with Patidar before being dismissed for 67 off 42 balls. His innings included eight fours and two sixes. After Kohli’s departure, Patidar accelerated, reaching his fifty in just 25 balls. He later fell after scoring 64, hitting five fours and four sixes.

Jitesh Sharma provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 40 off 19 balls, smashing two fours and four sixes. RCB posted a strong total of 221/5 in their 20 overs. Mumbai Indians put up a strong fight in the chase, with Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma leading the charge. Varma, who was retired out in the previous game, responded with a blistering 56 off 28 balls. Pandya also played a quick knock, scoring 42 off 15 balls. Despite their efforts, Mumbai Indians fell short as RCB’s bowlers held their nerve. The hosts were restricted to 209/9 in 20 overs, handing RCB a historic win at Wankhede.
