Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field against Rajat Patidar’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match No. 20 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at Wankhede Stadium on Monday. Mumbai Indians, currently eighth in the points table with one win from four matches, are looking to bounce back. The return of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was recovering from a lower back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is a major boost for their bowling attack. Experienced batter Rohit Sharma is also back and listed as an Impact Player. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, placed third with four points from three matches, will aim to break their winless streak at Wankhede Stadium. RCB have not won a single match at the venue in the last 10 years.
Speaking at the toss, MI captain Hardik Pandya said the pitch looked good and dew could play a role later. “It always plays well for both teams. It’s time for us to build some rhythm and take the right decisions. Mumbai has always supported us. Playing at home is different because the crowd is behind you and you know the conditions well. Jassie (Bumrah) is back and so is Ro (Rohit),” he said.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar said Mumbai’s wicket is good for batting and acknowledged the challenge of bowling at Wankhede.
