Rachin Ravindra delivered a stunning century as New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match on Monday. His knock made him the sixth Kiwi batter to score a century in the tournament’s history.

Walking in at a critical moment with New Zealand struggling at 15 for 2 while chasing 237, Ravindra displayed composure and class. He reached his hundred in just 95 balls, marking New Zealand’s third century in this edition. Tom Latham and Will Young had also scored centuries in their opening match against Pakistan.

With this hundred, Ravindra became the fourth fastest New Zealand batter to reach 1000 ODI runs, achieving the milestone in 26 innings. He follows Devon Conway, Glenn Turner, Daryl Mitchell, and Andrew Jones on the list.

Earlier, New Zealand’s bowlers set up the win by restricting Bangladesh to 236 for 9. Michael Bracewell led the attack with figures of 4 for 26 in 10 overs, dismissing Tanzid Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, and Towhid Hridoy. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored for Bangladesh with 77.

Bangladesh started well at 64 for 1 in the 12th over but lost wickets at regular intervals. Jaker Ali provided some late resistance with a 45-run knock. William O’Rourke supported Bracewell with two wickets for 48 runs.

New Zealand’s win keeps their campaign on track as they continue to dominate the tournament.
