Hasan Nawaz, Pakistan's newest 22-year-old opening batter, scored the fastest T20I century on Friday, March 21, at Eden Park in Auckland against New Zealand. He scored 100 runs in just 44 balls and broke the record of former captain Babar Azam during the third T20I match of the ongoing five-match series between the Kiwis and Pakistan.

To reach his debut ton for the national cricket team, Nawaz has hit 9 fours and 7 sixes so far. Earlier, Babar Azam held the record for scoring 100 in 49 balls against South Africa in Centurion on April 14, 2021, in a T20I match.

Hasan remained not out on 105 runs from 45 balls and helped Pakistan chase down the target of 205 runs in 16 overs for the loss of just one wicket. He made 74 runs for the first wicket with Mohammad Haris, who scored 41 runs, and a partnership of 133 runs for the second wicket with captain Salman Ali Agha, who made 51 runs from 31 balls.
