Bangladesh completed a historic sweep of their two-Test series against Pakistan with a six-wicket victory on Tuesday. Chasing 143 runs on the final day with 10 wickets in hand, Bangladesh reached their target with the loss of just four wickets. Shakib Al Hasan hit the winning boundary to seal the series.

This series sweep marks only Bangladesh’s second bilateral series win of two or more Tests away from home, with their previous one being against the West Indies in 2009. Bangladesh had already secured a 10-wicket win in the first Test, and they finished the second Test in just four days after the first day was washed out.

In their second innings, Bangladesh finished on 185-4, with Shakib Al Hasan not out on 21 and Mushfiqur Rahim not out on 22. The team had been at 26-6 in their first innings but recovered significantly thanks to contributions from Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Fast bowlers Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, and Taskin Ahmed had earlier dismissed Pakistan for 172 in their second innings, setting a target of 184 runs. Bangladesh’s top order showed resilience, with key contributions from Zakir Hasan (40), captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (38), and Mominul Haque (34).

This series extends Pakistan’s winless streak at home to 10 matches, with their last home victory coming in December 2021 against South Africa at Rawalpindi. Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood has now suffered a second consecutive series sweep, having also lost 3-0 to Australia last year.
