Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant recently recreated legendary commentator Sunil Gavaskar's iconic “stupid, stupid, stupid” rant during a brand shoot ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
A video circulating on social media shows Pant attempting to mimic Gavaskar's intensity while wearing a microphone. He burst into laughter when it did not come out as expected.
The original moment occurred during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia last year. Pant threw his wicket away while attempting a scoop shot off pacer Scott Boland during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Gavaskar, commentating live on ABC radio, expressed his frustration by calling the shot “stupid” three times.
Pant parted ways with Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and became the most expensive player in the league’s history after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) signed him for ₹27 crore. LSG later appointed Pant as captain for the season.
LSG will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 24 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
