India's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has sparked speculation about his future with the Delhi Capitals (DC) following a series of cryptic posts on his official Instagram. These stories come in the wake of reports suggesting he may be removed from his role as captain of the IPL franchise.

Pant took to Instagram, sharing a quote that read: "Believe in your vision, even when others can't see it. Your belief is the seed of your future success." His second post drew particular attention, stating, "Sometimes it's best to just be quiet and let God show people."

A recent report by the Times of India indicated that the Delhi Capitals management has decided to relieve Pant of his captaincy. It was revealed that Pant recently met with DC co-owners Parth Jindal and Kiran Kumar Grandhi to discuss his future. Sources close to the team stated that management believes Pant would be better off without the burden of captaincy. They have reportedly begun searching for a new skipper. Axar Patel is reportedly a strong candidate for the role.

Despite the captaincy change, reports said that Pant will be the first retention for the Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are also expected to be retained.

Pant has served as captain of the Delhi Capitals since the 2021 season after Shreyas Iyer was injured. Despite Iyer's return later that season, the franchise retained Pant as captain, releasing Iyer ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. The Delhi Capitals finished sixth in the IPL 2024 season and are seeking improvement for the upcoming season. To facilitate this, the franchise has revamped its support staff, replacing head coach Ricky Ponting and Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly with Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao.
