A major security breach occurred during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between New Zealand and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday. The incident occurred in the 27th over of New Zealand’s innings when a spectator carrying a photograph ran onto the field.

Two security officials pursued the intruder, but television cameras did not capture the moment. Tom Latham appeared surprised by the security breach and was seen discussing the situation with Rachin Ravindra. Play resumed after security personnel removed the intruder from the field.

Rachin Ravindra's Century Leads New Zealand to Victory

After missing New Zealand’s first match due to injury, Rachin Ravindra returned to the playing XI and delivered a match-winning century. The Blackcaps struggled early at 15 for 2 after Will Young fell for a duck and Kane Williamson managed just five runs.

Ravindra and Devon Conway rebuilt the innings with a 57-run stand before Conway was dismissed for 30 in the 16th over by Mustafizur Rahman. Tom Latham then joined Ravindra and the pair put together a dominant 129-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Latham scored 55 before getting out, while Ravindra played a brilliant knock of 112 off 95 balls, hitting 12 fours and one six. He was dismissed in the 39th over by Rishad Hossain.

Glenn Phillips remained unbeaten on 21, and Michael Bracewell added 11 as they guided New Zealand past the finish line.

With this win, the Blackcaps secured a spot in the semifinals alongside India from Group A, knocking out hosts Pakistan and Bangladesh from the tournament.
