Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in IPL 2025, chasing 164 with 4 overs to spare. Tristan Stubbs and Abhishek Porel ensured Capitals reach the target without any major hiccups. For SRH, Zeeshan Ansari picked up three wickets on his IPL debut. Faf du Plessis departed after slamming a 26-ball fifty. KL Rahul failed to contribute much on his DC debut, getting out for 15. Earlier, SRH's uncapped star Aniket Verma smashed his first IPL half-century and DC pacer Mitchell Starc picked up a five-wicket haul, as SRH were bundled out for 162. SRH had a disastrous powerplay, losing the wickets of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Nitish Reddy. Opting to bat after winning the toss, none of SRH's star-studded batters managed to score big. By virtue of this win, it’s two in two for the Delhi Capitals (DC), showcasing an outstanding display of cricketing prowess. After their thrilling run chase against Lucknow Super Giants, the Capitals demonstrated a more clinical and well-rounded performance, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of victory. The foundation for this win was laid by Mitchell Starc’s brilliant bowling spell, which proved to be the game-changer. Starc’s ability to swing the ball both ways, coupled with his sharp pace, restricted the formidable Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a modest total. His crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs stifled SRH’s momentum, leaving them struggling to build partnerships. The disciplined bowling unit, supported by key spells from other bowlers, ensured SRH couldn’t recover, eventually posting a total that was always going to be challenging to defend.

With a comfortable target set, the DC batting line-up approached the chase with confidence and composure. Although Jake Fraser-McGurk faced some initial difficulties against the SRH bowlers, Faf du Plessis stood tall at the other end, providing the much-needed stability. The experienced South African batsman played a flawless knock, blending elegance with aggression, as he crafted a solid fifty before falling to debutant Zeeshan Ansari.Fraser-McGurk’s early struggles didn’t deter him for long, but his eventual dismissal left DC in a slightly precarious position. Rahul then came in and played a brief, aggressive cameo, showcasing his intent to accelerate the scoring. However, he too was dismissed by Ansari, leaving the Capitals with a bit of work to do. With the target within reach, it was up to the dynamic duo of Tristan Stubbs and Harshit Porel to finish the job. Their calm and calculated approach ensured that the Capitals crossed the finish line comfortably in the 16th over.

Their ability to rotate strike, find gaps, and capitalize on the loose deliveries was pivotal in securing the win without unnecessary pressure. This victory highlights the Capitals’ growing momentum, with both the bowling and batting units firing in unison. Starc’s fiery spell, du Plessis’ anchor role, and the finishing prowess of Stubbs and Porel underscore the team’s balance and depth. As DC continues this winning streak, they’ve showcased their potential to be a formidable force in the tournament, blending experience with young talent
