Three members of the Sri Lankan contingent have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday. According to reports, the Lankan team is now awaiting the results of a second PCR test. The first ODI is due to begin at 12:30 pm (IST) today. Chaminda Vaas, Isuru Udana and Shiran Fernando tested positive with the samples collected on May 21. The positive cases have put the series, which is part of the ODI Super League, in jeopardy. All three matches are scheduled to be played in Dhaka with the second and third ODI to be played on May 25 and 28 respectively.
The fixtures will take place at Bangladesh's Shere Bangla Stadium. The two teams had recently locked horns in two Test matches, in which Sri Lanka won 1-0. Led by Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh have been boosted by Shakib al Hasan's comeback. The star all-rounder hasn't played international cricket since the West Indies series, which took place earlier in the year. He was allowed to skip the SL Test series to play IPL. Apart from him, Mustafizur Rahman is also part of the team. He wasn't part of the Test squad. Bangladesh will miss the services of their team director, Khaled Mahmud, who has tested positive for COVID-19.
