Australia's Steve Smith has gone unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The right-handed batsman registered himself for the auction at a base price of INR 2 crore but failed to attract any bids. Smith, who has not played in the IPL since 2021, was hoping to secure a contract this year. He had also registered for the auction last year but could not attract a single bid.

Over his IPL career, Smith has represented four teams. He started with Pune Warriors India in 2012, where he played two seasons and scored over 400 runs in 22 matches. After the Pune franchise was terminated, he moved to Rajasthan Royals for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He played 10 matches in 2014 and 14 in 2015.

When Rajasthan Royals were suspended, Smith joined Rising Pune Supergiant, where he captained the team to the final in 2017. Smith returned to Rajasthan Royals in 2019 and 2020, before representing Delhi Capitals in 2021.

In total, Smith has played 103 IPL matches, scoring 2,485 runs, including one century and 11 half-centuries.
