Virat Kohli has created history in the ongoing ODI series between India and England. In the third match, held in Ahmedabad, Kohli surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most runs against England. Kohli now holds the record for the highest number of runs scored by an Indian player against England, with over 4000 runs.In the process, Kohli has also gone past other cricketing greats like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.
Speaking about the match Kohli, showed some form as he hit a 50-ball half-century but was soon dismissed by Adil Rashid. Kohli did survive a couple of scares in the middle, including a possible run-out as he brought up his 73rd half-century in ODI cricket. However, Kohli couldn't convert his knock into a big score. Virat wasn't a part of India's opening match of the series due to a knee injury. Shreyas Iyer was included in the team after Kohli missed out. In the second ODI against England, Kohli only scored 5 runs as the chatter over his form further intensified.
The batter would've liked to contribute more in Ahmedabad but Rashid had his number once again. Kohli has fallen prey to Rashid five times in ODIs, four times in Tests and twice in T20Is.In Ahmedabad, the Indian batter was snared by a looped-up delivery from Rashid, which spun sharply to take the outside edge and was gathered by wicket-keeper Phil Salt.
