Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli was seen in an animated conversation with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Khaleel Ahmed after their IPL 2025 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. A video circulating online shows Kohli animatedly speaking to CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja while Khaleel stood nearby. Although Kohli appeared intense, the situation did not escalate as Khaleel was seen laughing. Fans speculated whether Kohli had issued a warning to the pacer after their heated on-field encounter.
Earlier in the game, Khaleel appealed for an LBW against Kohli. The umpire ruled it not out, and CSK took a review. Replays confirmed the decision. Frustrated, Khaleel bowled a sharp bouncer that Kohli missed. The two players then had a brief stare-down. Kohli found it difficult to score freely on the slow Chennai pitch. He managed 31 runs from 30 balls before Noor Ahmad dismissed him. Khaleel bowled with control and gave away only 28 runs in four overs. He also took the wicket of Jitesh Sharma.
Batting first, RCB posted 196/7 with multiple batters making important contributions. Noor Ahmad picked up three wickets for CSK, but their bowlers struggled to contain RCB’s attack. CSK never looked comfortable in the chase. RCB’s bowling unit, led by Josh Hazlewood with figures of 3/21, dominated the game. The home team finished at 146/8.
MS Dhoni batted at No. 9 and remained unbeaten on 30 from 16 balls. His effort included two sixes and three fours, but it was not enough to change the result. RCB’s win was their first at Chepauk in 17 years. The result also marked CSK’s biggest home defeat in terms of runs.
