India's External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has expressed a clear bias towards star Indian batter Virat Kohli, choosing him over cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. Jaishankar, known for his avid interest in cricket, highlighted Kohli's fitness levels and attitude as decisive factors.
"All three of them are great, but I have a bias towards Kohli because of his fitness and attitude," Jaishankar said during an interview on Sushant Sinha's YouTube channel.
After the video went viral, netizens took to social media platforms to express their views on Jaishankar's preference for Kohli over Tendulkar and Gavaskar.
Here's how netizens react:
Kohli, who recently dazzled in IPL 2024, clinched the Orange Cap for finishing as the tournament's highest run-scorer with 714 runs in 15 matches, boasting an average of 61.75. His stellar performance included five half-centuries and a century, striking at 154.70 and hitting 38 sixes.
The 35-year-old also became the first Indian and third overall batter after Chris Gayle and David Warner to win the Orange Cap twice. Kohli's sensational form was pivotal in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) staging a remarkable comeback, winning six consecutive matches after a dismal start in the tournament.
Following his IPL success, Kohli is set to join the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA, commencing on June 2. Despite initial paperwork issues, Kohli is expected to bolster India's campaign in the tournament.
RCB's journey in IPL 2024 ended in disappointment as they were knocked out by Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator match on May 22 in Ahmedabad.
