Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan took a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the empty stands during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opener between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday.
Vaughan, known for his outspoken views, expressed surprise over the low turnout for the first major ICC event in Pakistan since 1996. He questioned whether the PCB had informed fans about the match. "Great to see the Champions Trophy being played in Pakistan. First major event since 1996. Have they forgotten to tell the locals it’s on? Where is the crowd?" Vaughan wrote on social media.
The stadium saw only one section filled with spectators, while large portions remained empty despite the historic significance of the tournament’s return.
