Gujarat Titans pacer Arshad Khan dismissed Virat Kohli in the second over of their IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. Fans were eager to see Kohli deliver a strong performance after a struggling knock of 31 in the previous game. The former RCB captain attempted to pull a short-of-a-length delivery but mistimed his shot, sending the ball straight to Prasidh Krishna. The early wicket gave Gujarat Titans an advantage.
Who Is Arshad Khan?
Arshad Khan was born on December 20, 1997, in Gopalganj (Seoni), Madhya Pradesh. His talent was first noticed by Mumbai Indians' scouting team during junior-level cricket. Mumbai Indians picked him for Rs 20 lakh in the 2022 IPL auction, but an injury ruled him out of the season. He returned the following year and played six matches, taking five wickets. His economy rate remained a concern, but his ability to generate swing with the new ball and contribute with the bat kept him in contention.
After a brief stint with Lucknow Super Giants, where he showcased his batting skills with an unbeaten 58 off 33 balls against Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans secured him for Rs 1.3 crore in the 2025 IPL auction. Arshad has played 12 IPL matches, scoring 102 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 145.71, including a half-century. With the ball, he has taken seven wickets in 12 innings, with best figures of 3/39. His economy rate of 12.57 remains a concern, but he is working to improve his consistency.

GT Opt to Bowl, RCB Unchanged
Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to field first. Explaining the decision, Gill said they aim to minimize mistakes and fine-tune their game. “Looks like a good wicket. We've seen the conditions don't change much. We're all about reducing our unforced errors. We'll try to fine-tune the areas that need it. Kagiso misses out due to personal reasons so we've got Arshad Khan back,” Gill said.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar confirmed an unchanged lineup following back-to-back victories against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. "Would've bowled first as well because it's a new surface. It's pretty hard and won't change much. The way boys are chipping in gives a lot of confidence as a captain. We love this crowd. The way they love us and the support we've always received is incredible. Same team, he said.
