Himmat Singh made his Indian Premier League debut for the Lucknow Super Giants in their match against Gujarat Titans on Saturday. The 28-year-old batter from Delhi replaced Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who was unavailable due to personal reasons. Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant confirmed at the toss that Marsh was not part of the squad as his daughter is unwell.
Who is Himmat Singh?
Himmat Singh, born on November 8, 1996, in Delhi, is a right-handed batter and part-time off-break bowler. He has earned a reputation in domestic cricket for his calm presence at the crease and his ability to lead under pressure.
He began his domestic career in the 2015–16 season with a List A debut and later made his first-class debut in 2017. In 33 first-class matches, he has scored 1,738 runs at an average close to 37. His top score in red-ball cricket is 194. In the shorter format, he has scored 1,858 runs in 55 List A matches with an average above 47. He has registered six centuries with a highest score of 132 not out. One of his standout performances came in the Ranji Trophy when he led Delhi and played a match-saving innings of 194 against Uttarakhand.
Though Himmat Singh was first picked by an IPL franchise in 2019, he did not get a chance to play. In the 2025 auction, he was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
