Priyansh Arya, the new star for Punjab Kings, made an explosive entry in the IPL 2025 season with a maiden century against Chennai Super Kings. The left-handed opener scored 100 runs off just 39 balls at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Arya's century was the second fastest by an Indian in IPL history, behind Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball century for Rajasthan Royals in 2010. The left-handed batter hit nine sixes and seven fours, including 22 runs off Matheesha Pathirana in the 13th over to reach his century. Arya was dismissed for 103 off 42 balls by Noor Ahmad. As he walked back to the dugout, his teammates and co-owner applauded him.

Who is Priyansh Arya?
Priyansh Arya is a young attacking opener from Delhi. He was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 3.8 crore in the IPL mega auction and made his IPL debut in the 2025 season opener against Gujarat Titans. He quickly became known for his aggressive batting.
He caught attention after becoming the leading run-scorer in the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) tournament, where he scored 608 runs in ten innings for South Delhi Superstarz. Arya gained further recognition in the DPL when he hit six consecutive sixes for South Delhi Superstarz against North Delhi Strikers.During the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Arya stood out as Delhi's top run-scorer, amassing 222 runs across seven innings at an average of 31.71 and a strike rate of 166.91. Despite his stellar performances, Arya went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction.
