Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dealt another blow after being ruled out of Mumbai's 2024-25 Ranji Trophy semifinal clash against Vidarbha due to an ankle injury. The match will take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur starting on February 17.
According to reports from The Times of India, Jaiswal will miss the semifinal due to discomfort during Mumbai's training session. He will instead report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Center of Excellence in Bengaluru for further assessment. It is unclear whether Jaiswal's injury will prevent him from participating in the Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19 and concludes on March 9.

Jaiswal's exclusion from the semifinal comes after he was dropped from India's 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. Despite being initially named in the squad, Jaiswal was replaced by Varun Chakravarthy in the final lineup. The 23-year-old was subsequently named a reserve player but will not travel with the team to Dubai for the tournament. He is one of three non-substitutes, along with Shivam Dube and Mohammed Siraj. These players will only be called to the UAE if a replacement is needed due to an injury.
Jaiswal made his ODI debut earlier this month against England and was part of India's preliminary Champions Trophy squad. However, he was later moved to the reserves list with spinner Varun Chakravarthy preferred. Jaiswal made 15 off 22 balls in his sole ODI appearance before being dropped for the remaining matches of the three-match series against England.
