Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma officially announced their legal separation on Thursday, March 20. The Family Court in Mumbai's Bandra approved the couple's divorce petition. After the divorce, Chahal's lawyer, Nitin Gupta, addressed the media and explained that the couple divorced with mutual consent.
"The marriage has been dissolved. Both parties are now officially divorced and are no longer husband and wife. Their joint petition has been accepted," Cricketer Chahal's lawyer said.
Choreographer Dhanashree Verma's advocate Aditi Mohoni said, "We have no comments to make. This is a court matter. The divorce has been granted by mutual consent."

A single bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar approved the divorce petition on Wednesday, keeping in mind the request of the cricketer for the preparation of the upcoming IPL season. In lieu of this, Dhanashree will be given Rs 4.75 crore as alimony. According to reports, Chahal has already paid Rs 2.37 crore. The court had waived the couple's six-month cooling-off period on request of both. This is the time when, after the divorce petition, the court gives the couple another chance to stay together and resolve their grievances.
