A heartwarming moment resurfaced after nearly two decades as a longtime fan of former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan rekindled her iconic proposal during his recent arrival at the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) camp.
The story dates back to 2005 during India’s third Test against Pakistan at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The fan gained attention when she held up a placard that read, “Zaheer, I love you!” The gesture became a memorable part of Indian cricket history.
This week, the same fan made a surprise return. As Zaheer joined LSG as their mentor, she greeted him once again with a sign that read, “Zaheer, I love you.” The franchise shared the video with the caption, “Our love for Zak is constant.” The clip quickly went viral, taking fans on a nostalgic trip back to the original moment.
Zaheer replaced Gautam Gambhir as LSG mentor last August after Gambhir moved to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Under Gambhir’s leadership, KKR won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title last year. Gambhir later left the franchise to become the head coach of the Indian men’s team. Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has since taken over as KKR mentor.
LSG will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against Axar Patel’s Delhi Capitals on Monday, March 24, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
