The rumors are doing rounds that in the near future, Rohit Sharma is likely to be the captain of Team India's ODI and T20 teams and the selection committee will put its final stamp on it soon. Sports website Inside Sports quoted sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) given this information. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will continue as the captain of the Test cricket team.

According to reports, BCCI officials have denied appointing different captains for the three formats but captain Virat Kohli has already decided to step down as captain of the T20 team after the World Cup. He submitted his resignation to BCCI.

Kohli had earlier tweeted the letter on Twitter. In it, he made it clear that he had made this decision. In his tweet, he said that After a lot of contemplation and discussions with my close people, Ravi [Shastri] Bhai and also Rohit [Sharma], who has been an essential part of the leadership group, I’ve decided to step down as the T20 Captain after this T20 World Cup in Dubai in October.”

He further said in his tweet that he will continue to be part of the T20 team as a batsman in the future. Kohli said that making up his mind “took a lot of time.”

Kohli wrote, “Understanding workload is a very important thing, and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all 3 formats and captaining regularly for [the] last 5-6 years, I feel I need to give myself space”

The Indian team's performance in the T20 World Cup has been very poor. Team India's semi-final hopes have been dashed as they suffered heavy losses against Pakistan and New Zealand.

If India needs to make their position in the semifinals they have to beat all the matches of the Group 2 team that is Namibia, Scotland, and Afghanistan.

According to sources in the BCCI, Rahul has the highest preference for leadership. ‘Senior players need rest. K. L. Rahul is an important component of the team. Therefore, it is almost certain that he will lead the team' they said.

New Zealand to visit India after T20 World Cup India. There will be a T20 series between New Zealand. The series will start on November 17 and matches will be played on November 17, 19, and 21. Jaipur will host the first game, followed by Ranchi and Kolkata. The two-match Test series will be played in Kanpur and Kolkata between November 25 and December 7.

There will be two World Cups till 2023. Australia will host the T20 World Cup in October-November 2022. In 2023, India will host the ODI World Cup.

Rohit Sharma's record as captain is excellent. He has captained the Indian team in 19 matches. He has won 15 of them. In the IPL, he has won 59.68 percent of his matches.

Rohit Sharma is the only captain to have won five IPL trophies. Despite captaining India, he has done well as a batsman. He has scored 712 runs at an average of 41.88. He also scored two centuries and five half-centuries.
