Amitabh Bachchan Buys Land Near Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, To Build Memorial for Father: Report
Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly purchased a 54,454-square-foot plot near the Ram Mandir, marking his second major land acquisition in the city. According to The Times of India, the land is located over 10 kilometers from the Ram Temple and may be used to establish a memorial dedicated to the life and literary contributions of his father, the late Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Earlier, Bachchan bought a 5,372-square-foot plot in Haveli Avadh on January 16 for ₹4.54 crore, just before the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple. Reports indicate that his latest purchase is in Tihura Manjha, approximately seven kilometers from the temple. The land, acquired for ₹86 lakh, was registered on January 31.
On the work front, Bachchan was last seen in the Tamil film Vettaiyan, starring alongside Rajinikanth. Despite featuring two major stars, the film had an underwhelming performance at the box office. It also starred Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Asal Kolaar, and Rana Daggubati. The movie, which premiered in theaters on October 10, 2024, is currently streaming on Prime Video.
Bachchan is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 16, which premiered in August 2024 on Sony TV. The quiz shows airs Monday to Friday at 9 p.m. and is also available for streaming on SonyLIV.
