Amitabh Bachchan has donated Rs 2 crore to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Covid care centre at Rakab Ganj Gurdwara in Delhi. The president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management committee Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that operation at the facility with 300 beds will begin today (May 10). He thanked the veteran actor for his contribution and said that Big B called Sikhs legendary. The actor has also arranged oxygen cylinders for the Covid care centre.Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who is also the national spokesperson for Akali Dal party, took to social media to to announce that Amitabh Bachchan has donated Rs 2 crore to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Covid Care Facility. Sirsa wrote, "'Sikhs are Legendary, Salute To Their Service'. These were the words of Amitabh Bachchan when he contributed Rs 2 crore to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Covid Care Facility (sic)."

On Sunday, Amitabh Bachchan shared a glimpse from the Vax Live event on Twitter where he could be seen requesting the world to help India in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Amitabh Bachchan, along with several prominent personalities such as Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, Jimmy Kimmel, Sean Penn, David Letterman, was a part of Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World, which went live on Saturday. The Global Citizen fundraising concert advocating the importance of vaccine equity has pulled in 302 million dollars, exceeding the goal for the organisation’s campaign. Apart from Big B, the show, which was hosted by Selena Gomez, was attended by several thousand fully-vaccinated concertgoers who cheered on performances by Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin, H.E.R. and Lopez, who enjoyed a duet with her mom. The concert was shot earlier this month but aired on Saturday evening. Amitabh Bachchan, who said he was “privileged to be a part of the concert and the fight for India”, posted a video in which he urged global citizens to rise and help India in fighting the deadly second wave of Covid-19. Meanwhile, on the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was recently cast for the Indian adaptation of 'The Intern' opposite Deepika Padukone. Apart from that, he has films like 'Jhund', 'Brahmastra', 'Goodbye', 'May Day' and several others in the pipeline.
