mid the rising coronavirus cases across the globe the annual  dog meat fair in China has commenced. In spite of the government's drive to discourage consumption of wildlife and pets for meat due to health reasons, the controversial dog meat festival has kicked off in Yulin city of Guangxi Zhuang. However, actress Anushka Sharma slammed the Chinese govt for holding such a fair raising her voice against animal cruelty.

Taking to her Instagram story the actress wrote, “What will it take for them to learn.” The controversial festival that takes place in the southwestern city of Yulin witnesses thousands of visitors every year. Amid the coronavirus outbreak which is speculated to have been originated from China’s ‘sea-food’ market in Wuhan, the purchase of dog meats poses a ‘significant health risk’ and it also acts as a 'breeding ground for a pandemic'. In April, Shenzhen became the first city in China to ban the consumption of dogs. On the work front, Anushka Sharma is all set to go digital with her second web series Bulbul.
