‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain’ Actress Shubhangi Atre Reacts to Ex-Husband’s Death, Piyush Pooray Dies Two Months After Divorce

Actress Shubhangi Atre, who plays Angoori Bhabhi in the well-known comedy TV show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, is now grappling with a personal tragedy. Her ex-husband, Piyush Pooray, passed away on April 19. Though they separated in 2022, their divorce was finalized two months before the demise of Piyush Pooray. They were together for 22 years. They got married in 2003, and they have a daughter, Ashi. They decided to part ways due to irreconcilable differences.

Cause of Piyush Pooray’s DeathPiyush Pooray was battling with liver cirrhosis. He was unwell for quite some time, and according to media reports, Shubhangi and Piyush were not in contact at the time of Piyush’s death.

Who Was Piyush Pooray?Shubhangi and Piyush were married for a long time, and when they tied the knot, Piyush had a high-paying job in Advertising. He decided to quit his job and support Shubhangi in her career and take care of Ashi, their daughter. The actress spoke about the sacrifices made by Piyush Pooray for her. She told TOI in an old interview,  “When I got shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasturi, Piyush left his job so that I could pursue acting. Later, when I settled down a bit and we figured out our schedules, he resumed work.”

TOI, citing their source, reported that Shubhangi resumed shooting for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain on April 20, a day after her ex-husband’s death. But she also chose not to speak on this matter. While interacting with media reporters, she said, “Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this.”

While Shubhangi continues to entertain millions with her performance on-screen, the loss of someone who once played a pivotal role in her life has undoubtedly left an emotional void.
