Boney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor at loggerheads with each other over Mr. India remake?
Ali Abbas Zafar's recent announcement about the remake of Mr. India has kicked up a storm in the Kapoor household. While director Shekhar Kapoor and Anil Kapoor are clueless about the remake, producer Boney Kapoor seems to have given his nod for the film. According to a report in a news portal, Boney has given his consent for the project without informing his brother Anil Kapoor into confidence.
A source informed the portal that technically, Boney is right as he is the producer of the film he does not need to consult anyone before giving his approval. However, Anil not being kept in the loop who was the leading man of the original might not have gone down well with the veteran actor. Anil's daughter Sonam Kapoor Ahuja also took to her social media to express her displeasure regarding the matter.
Excited to partner with @ZeeStudios_ for an epic trilogy #MrIndia! It is a huge responsibility to carry forward an iconic character loved by everyone. Currently, working on the script, no actor has been locked till now. Once we lock the first draft of the script, casting begins!

No one has even asked me or mentioned to me about this film called Mr India 2. I can only guess that they using the title to get a big weekend. For they cannot use the characters/story without permission from the original creators of the film. https://t.co/Set5eDH63j

Meanwhile, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was the first one to react to the news as he was not informed about the same. According to the director, he has moral rights over the film. The 1987 classic Mr. India starred Anil Kapoor and late Sridevi in the lead roles. Upon its release the movie received positive response and is considered one of the iconic films in Bollywood film history.
