Chhaava is currently a box office hit, surpassing Rs 200 crore by day seven, marking a significant success. According to Sacnilk, the film earned approximately Rs 19.61 crore (nett) on its seventh day, bringing its total to Rs 217.36 crore, with Hindi occupancy at 23.42% on Thursday. Morning shows had a footfall of 17.25%, which increased to 24.14% in the afternoon and 28.88% in the evening. Released on February 14, Chhaava crossed Rs 100 crore within three days, opening with Rs 31 crore.
Globally, the film has exceeded Rs 250 crore, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, surpassing Akshay Kumar's Sky Force at Rs 168 crore. Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Akshaye Khanna as Emperor Aurangzeb. Despite mixed to positive reviews from critics, audience response has been overwhelmingly favorable.
Vicky recently shared on Instagram about his intense six-month preparation for his role, which included rigorous horse riding and weapons training, with sessions lasting 6-8 hours daily and often resulting in new injuries. “The discipline I’ve gained is unprecedented,” he remarked. The film has also been made tax-free in Madhya Pradesh and Goa.
