Shahid Kapoor's much-awaited film Deva is all set for its digital premiere. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film features Shahid in the role of a cop, alongside Pooja Hegde, Kubbra Sait, and Pavail Gulati. On Thursday, Netflix India officially announced that Deva will be available for streaming from March 28.
Netflix India shared the film's poster on Instagram, captioning it with lyrics from its soundtrack: "Bhasad macha, trigger chala, Deva aa raha hai." A remake of Rosshan Andrrews' 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran, Deva follows ACP Dev Ambre (Shahid Kapoor), a cop who loses his memory while investigating his best friend's murder. Pooja Hegde plays Diya Sathaye, a journalist and Dev’s love interest.
Addressing comparisons between Deva and Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic film Deewaar, Shahid told PTI: "A performance in a film like that makes every actor feel humble. Talking about Amit ji, we have all grown up watching him and idolizing him as a star. Deewaar had a strong story, powerful interpersonal dynamics, great dialogues, and stellar performances. It’s a great memory for all of us."
