Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of India's most popular television serials. Even today, it continues to dominate the TRP charts and has been running successfully on SAB TV for many years. The show has a massive fan base, with many viewers even watching its episodes while having their meals. Over the years, several dialogues from the show have become iconic, one of them being "A Pagal Aurat." However, this particular dialogue once landed actor Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) in trouble.
Dilip Joshi’s Revelation How An Unscripted Dialogue Caused Controversy
In a recent conversation on comedian Saurabh Pant’s podcast, Dilip Joshi revealed how an unscripted dialogue caused controversy. “I got into trouble because of the dialogue 'A Pagal Aurat.' It was never part of the script. While improvising a scene, I spontaneously said it. The audience loved it, and it became quite popular. However, some people objected, claiming that it was insulting to women. At the time, there was a movement called Women’s Lib, and I was told not to use that dialogue again. Eventually, the producers decided to ban it completely,” Joshi shared.
