Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was leading a team of NSG commandos to flush out terrorists from the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai when he was fatally wounded He was conferred the Ashok Chakra, the country’s highest peace time gallantry award, on 26 January 2009.His last message to his colleagues while carrying out the operation was, “Don’t come up, I will handle them.” These words have left a deep impression on his troop commandos. “Sandeep used to say he did not want to see a mother weeping over his colleague’s body and preferred his mother to bear the loss,” his father had told PTI in 2018.

Now on his birth anniversary today, the makers of Adivi Sesh's upcoming film have released a glimpse to mark the occasion. Mahesh Babu, who is backing the project titled 'Major' also remembered Sandeep Unnikrishnan on his birth anniversary. The makers tweeted, "Remembering our nation's unsung hero, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan on his birth anniversary."  The film is based on the courageous life of Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Remembering the 26/11 Hero on his birth anniversary, a glimpse of the film is revealed by the team. The video shows Adivi Sesh as Major in a shocking condition as the house is set on fire. The glimpse of Major makes a good impression. The background music gives life to the visuals. Sobitha Dhulipala, Saiee M Manjrekar will also be seen playing pivotal roles in the film.
