The incident of mob lynching in Palghar district of Maharashtra is being strongly opposed on social media. Former Indian cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Monday condemned the mob lynching of three men in Maharashtra's Palghar district. Taking to the microblogging site, Gambhir called the incident as 'most inhuman and barbaric act'. Bollywood actors Farhan Akhtar and Anupam Kher condemned the violence expressing their grief over the incident. Farhan Akhtar wrote on Twitter, ' "Strongly condemn the violence that took the lives of 3 people in Palghar. Mob rule should have no place in our society and I hope the murderers have been arrested and that justice is delivered swiftly."
On the other hand director and actor Anupam Kher tweeted, "What is going on? Why is this happening? This is the heinous crime against humanity."On Thursday, April 16, 2020, a huge mob of tribals allegedly lynched three people near a village in Palghar during the national lockdown. The incident took place on Dabhadi-Khanvel Road within the territorial limits of Kasa Police Station. The tribals also attacked the police team that arrived on the spot to rescue the three men. Netizens have been taking to their social media handles to demand a high-level probe into the incident.
