The latest movie to join the worldwide web premiere bandwagon is Siddharth Malhotra’s Shershaah. The war drama has reportedly locked its direct release on Amazon Prime Video. Originally, the film was supposed to release in mid of 2020. However, due to the COVID 19 shutdown, it was delayed. The film is based  on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who died in the Kargil War and was honoured with the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. The film which is co-produced by Dharma Productions and Shabbir Boxwala is believed to have been sold to the streaming giant at a reasonable price.

The producers have decided to skip the theatrical release considering the current situation that’s getting unpredictable each passing day. The deal between the makers and Amazon Prime Video is said to have been more or less locked and they will make the announcement as soon as the paperwork is completed. The makers are contemplating on release the film next month. Interestingly, Siddharth will be seen playing the role of Captain Vikram Batra as well as his twin brother Vishal Batra in the film. Shershaah has been shot in several locations including Chandigarh, Palampur, Dharamshala, Leh, Manali and Kargil. It is helmed by Vishnuvardhan and produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. The film also features Javed Jaaferi, Shiv Pandit among others
