Veteran Malayalam actor Kalinga Sasi passes away after prolonged liver ailment
Malayalam actor Kalinga Shashi passed away on Tuesday. The actor whose real name is V Chandrakumar has acted in movies like Paleri Manikyam and Kerala Cafe. He was undergoing treatment for liver disease at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Kalinga Shashi was a prominent theatre artist before he made his debut in films. He worked in theatre for around 25 years, in more than 500 plays.
Shashi returned to the big screen through Ranjith’s ‘ Paleri Manikyam’ after many years which was a turning poingt in his cinematic career. Many celebs including Asif Ali, director Lijo Jose Pellissery and Actor-writer Chemban Vinod too paid his respects on social media remembering the movie veteran. Sasi Kalinga was married to Prabhavathi. Some of his popular films are Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2009), Pranchiyettan & the Saint (2010), Indian Rupee (2011), Adaminte Makan Abu (2011) and Amen (2013).
