“We Used To Have His Posters in Our Cupboards”: Randeep Hooda Recalls Fan-Boy Moment With Jaat Co-Star Sunny Deol

Randeep Hooda, known for his powerful performances, is set to take on a formidable role as the duo are set together for an action packed  face off in Jaat directed by Gopichand Malineni. Randeep is being widely praised across the spectrum amongst audiences since the trailer release owing to his charismatic and macho screen presence alongside Sunny Deol. For Randeep, this project is deeply personal, as he has admired Sunny Deol since his school days and him and his friends even had his posters in their cupboards  growing up taking inspiration from the iconic actor. Talking about taking on the mega action film, Randeep shares, “I have always been a huge fan of Sunny Deol. Growing up, we admired his powerful screen presence, his intensity, and his physique. I still remember us having his posters in our school hostel  cupboards, looking at them and getting inspired to lift weights and doing push ups”. He further adds, “When I was offered the role, what convinced me the most was that I was playing  this ultra macho action star opposite a legend like Sunny sir, to match his energy and intensity on screen—it’s an actor’s dream. He is a powerhouse, and sharing this space with him is both a challenge and an honor”. 

Written and directed by Gopichand Malineni (in his Hindi debut), and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The film stars Sunny Deol in the lead role, Regina Cassandra as the female lead role and Randeep Hooda as main antagonist. Ayesha Khan, Saiyami Kher, Zarina Wahab, Bandhavi Sridhar, Vishika Kota, Praneeta Patnaik and Doulath Sulthana will see in supporting female protagonists. Vineet Kumar Singh, Ajay Ghosh, Dayanand Shetty, Jagapati Babu and Babloo Prithiveeraj will also see in supporting antagonists. The film was announced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory on 19 October 2024, coinciding with Sunny Deol‘s 67th birthday on their social media accounts, along with the first look poster. The poster revealed Deol's first look in which, he had an uprooted fan in his hand. Principal photography began in June 2024 and was extensively shot across Hyderabad, Bapatla, and Visakhapatnam. Anal Arasu, Peter Hein, Naga Venkat and Ram-Lakshman were roped in as the action directors. Action sequences were filmed across Hyderabad, Mangalore and Agumbe. The film's music will be composed by Thaman S.

Sunny Deol, who plays the titular role of Jaat, expressed his excitement, saying, “This journey of this film had begun during Gadar 2. We all were very excited about it, we were about to start a beautiful film, and after following many directors, Gopi agreed to do the film. We met in Goa, and he said he would direct the film and had another story to narrate. He narrated to me the story of Sorry Bol (laughs). And with 'sorry, sorry, sorry,' he pulled me into the entire film and story, and this is how we made Jaat."The trailer of Jaat was released on March 24, featuring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda in lead roles. As soon as it dropped, it gained massive popularity and is currently trending at number three on YouTube. Fans have been showering it with praise.  Sunny Deol and his iconic "Dhai kilo ka haath" have been a significant part of Bollywood folkfore for years! and Mythri Movie Makers are bringing him to the South, incorporating elements that resonate with the audience there. Similar to blockbuster hits like RRR and Pushpa 2.
