Bollywood’s Bhaijaan, Salman Khan’s action movie Sikandar, is releasing on March 30, Sunday. The movie is skipping a typical Friday release trend and will release on Eid 2025. On March 26, Wednesday, Salman Khan shared a new poster of the film. In the caption, he wrote, "See you in theatres worldwide on 30th March! #Sikandar (sic)."
This is not the first time Salman Khan has skipped Friday to release his movie. He has opted for this unconventional strategy in the past as well. In 2023, his blockbuster movie, Tiger 3, was also released on a Sunday to align with Diwali. This time, the movie makers are following the same strategy and aligning the release with Eid.
However, many trade experts opined that this move can affect the movie at the box office as it means missing out on the pre-festival weekend’s box office advantage.
This movie is directed by AR Murugadoss. He confirmed that Sikandar’s final runtime is 2 hours and 20 minutes. The first half will last for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the second half will run for 1 hour and 5 minutes.
Why Was Tiger 3 Released On A Sunday?
While traditional release techniques are effective, Rohan Malhotra, VP of Distribution at Yash Raj Films, clarified that occasionally an alternative approach helps the film in the long term. Even though it had a poorer opening day, the team felt that Tiger 3's release on Laxmi Puja day was the perfect decision.
Tiger 3, which starred Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi, made over Rs 280 crore at the box office.
Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kajal Aggarwal co-star in AR Murugadoss's Sikandar. The movie is one of 2025's most eagerly awaited releases.
The advance booking for Sikandar started on March 25. Three days ahead of the release, the movie has already earned Rs 7.74 crore. This shows Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandana’s fans are extremely excited for the release of the movie, and they have brought it closer to the Rs 10 crore milestone ahead of its release.
With 98,057 tickets sold, the 2D version of the movie has brought in Rs 2.81 crore, with IMAX 2D screenings providing the remaining revenue. Delhi and Maharashtra have become the movie's biggest markets. With an expected advance sales of Rs 1.55 crore, Maharashtra leads, followed by Delhi with Rs 1.29 crore.
