One of the most recognisable investigative dramas on Indian television, CID ran for 21 years on television and is now streaming on Netflix. The ACP Pradyuman character is no longer a part of the show, which is a significant announcement that has shocked CID fans. In the last episode, veteran actor Shivaji Satam's character, ACP Pradyuman, who embodied the leadership position, dies after becoming entangled in a bombing accident. Fans expressed their fury after the TV channel Sony TV confirmed the death rumours in a social media post on Saturday. Sony posted a picture of ACP Pradyuman on Instagram late on Saturday night along with the caption, "In the loving memory of ACP Pradyuman… A loss that will always be remembered.” "End of an era ACP Pradyuman (1998–2025)" was written on the image.
Thousands of fans who thought the character's exit would mean the end of the show left comments in response.
An angry fan commented on the post, "What is this???? Do we really need this post? Really, you are going to end this character, the Era of Cid, which we cherish, the perfect trio. Really? I mean we were waiting for plot twist and you do this to our most favorite character, our most iconic Acp sir no I am not accepting it.. I am literally not liking this at all.. this post broke our hearts really." Another commented, “It’s not RIP to ACP Pradyuman. It’s RIP to CID. And RIP to Sony TV. Because with this one heartless move, you didn’t just end a character. You buried a legacy.”
For more than 25 years, Satam's Pradyuman has been a mainstay of late-night television in India. Many supporters were confused by his abrupt departure, especially since the new season had just started.
A fan wrote, “Why would you kill ACP Pradyuman? He was not just a character, he was a part of our lives. He was strength, intelligence, justice, and nostalgia all in one. For 25 years, he stood tall, fought crime, led with dignity, and now you decide to end him like this? After everything? You owe the fans an explanation."

The team was attempting to apprehend Barboza (Tigmanshu Dhulia), the infamous criminal who ensnares the ACP in his web and appears to kill him in an explosion, in the most recent episode of CID. But since the death was not depicted on television, many people thought the character might simply make a comeback.
Shivaji Satam emphasised the show's ongoing appeal earlier this year, pointing out that viewers, particularly young people, consider police officers as heroes and appreciate how their experiences are presented in an interesting, fantastical way. Originally released in 1998, CID was reintroduced earlier this year on Sony TV and is now accessible on Netflix. Additionally, CID Squad - Naye Yug Ka Naya CID, an animated version, has been produced.
