18 new corona cases raise Karnataka tally to 463

Karnataka registered 18 new COVID-19 positive cases, raising the state's tally to 463, said an official on Friday.

Bengaluru, April 24 Karnataka registered 18 new COVID-19 positive cases, raising the state's tally to 463, said an official on Friday.

"Till date, 463 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes 18 deaths and 150 discharges," said a health official.

In the past 19 hours, discharges rose by five from 145 to 150.

Among the 18 new cases, 16 are men and two women, including a 10-year-old girl and two boys below 17.

Incidentally, 15 of the new cases are contacts of earlier cases, among whom five emerged from the Padarayanapura case, all men below 35.

Similarly, five men who were contacts of the 419th case, the 55-year-old man from Hogasandra, tested positive for the virus in Bengaluru Urban.

Of the new cases, Bengaluru Urban accounted for 11, followed by Raibagh, Belagavi and Bagalkot, two each, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, and Vijayapura, one each.
