Yet another fluctuation was witnessed in Andhra Pradesh when the state's single-day count of COVID-19 cases dipped to 50 on Friday. On Thursday, the state had reported an all-time high of 98 cases for the second time in four days. With the latest update, the state's tally rose further to 3,427.

According to the medical bulletin issued by the state nodal officer, 9,831 samples were tested in the 24 hours ending 9 a.m., Friday. In comparison, 9,986 tests were conducted in the preceding testing cycle.

On Friday, 21 persons were discharged from hospitals, taking the cumulative tally of cured persons to 2,294. Andhra Pradesh currently has 1,060 active cases that are being treated at various hospitals.

Meanwhile, with two deaths reported from Krishna district, the death toll in the state climbed to 73 on Friday morning. Andhra Pradesh's mortality rate of 1.69 per cent ranked 10th among the states of India, according to figures issued by the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday.

Friday also saw the cumulative tally of COVID-19 cases among the returnees from other states rise to 700 from the Thursday figure of 616 cases. The tally of active cases climbed to 442 from the 372 cases reported on Thursday. On a positive note, 14 persons from this category were discharged during the day.

With four new cases detected among foreign returnees, their cumulative tally climbed to 123 on Friday. However, the tally of active cases in this category dropped to 119 following the discharge of three persons in the last 24 hours.
