Is Morning Coffee Safe for Diabetics? Expert Shares Healthier Alternative
For many of us, the real start to the day isn't when we get out of bed it's when that hot cup of tea or coffee is placed in front of us. Sipping on that first cup seems to bring energy and focus, and for most people in India, it’s an everyday routine. But while this may be fine for the average person, how suitable is it for people with diabetes to begin their day with instant coffee? Should diabetic patients drink coffee in the morning? Here’s what experts have to say.
Renowned dietician Dr. Jagannath Dixit recently shared a video on social media addressing this very question. In the video, he provides important insights into whether diabetics should consume instant coffee to start their day. According to Dr. Dixit, starting the day with instant coffee may not be ideal for diabetics. Instead, he recommends that if diabetic individuals wish to have coffee in the morning, they should opt for coffee prepared by boiling ground coffee bean powder. He emphasizes that no sweeteners—such as sugar, honey, or jaggery—should be added to the drink.
By following this method, diabetics can start their day in a healthier way. Dr. Dixit also suggests that this type of unsweetened brewed coffee can be consumed two to three times a day. It’s not just people with diabetes who should be mindful of their coffee habits those without the condition should also consider expert advice when deciding whether to kickstart their day with sweetened instant coffee.
