Bengaluru, June 27 Karnataka has registered a record 918 Covid positive cases in the past 24 hours, with 596 alone being recorded in Bengaluru, raising the state's tally to 11,923, said an official on Saturday.

"918 new cases were reported from Friday 5 p.m. to Saturday 5 p.m.," said a health official.

Among all the places in the southern state, Bengaluru saw the highest number of cases, 596, on Saturday, raising the city's tally to 2,531.

Out of the 2,531 cases, 1,913 are active cases, also highest in that category.

Meanwhile, 11 patients succumbed to the virus, three each in Bengaluru Urban and Bidar, two in Kalaburagi and one each in Gadag, Ballari and Dharwad.

Among the new cases, excluding Bengaluru Urban, Dakshina Kannada accounted for 49, followed by Kalaburagi (33), Ballari and Gadag (24 each), Dharwad (19), Bidar (17), Udupi, Hassan and Kolar (14 each) and Yadgir, Shivamogga, Chamarajanagar and Tumkur (13 each).

Mandya and Mysuru (12 each), Kodagu (9), Raichur and Davangere (6 each), Bengaluru Rural (5), Uttara Kannada, Bagalkote, Chikkamagaluru and Chitradurga (2 each) and Belagavi, Chikkaballapura, Koppal and Haveri (1 each).

On a positive note, 371 patients got discharged, elevating the number of total discharges to 7,287.

Though the total number of cases rose to 11,923, active cases are 4,441 while 197 patients are admitted in the ICU.
