Recovered patients may face relapse of COVID-19 second time

A new report by Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that the novel coronavirus is likely to haunt again in some patients who have successfully recovered from COVID-19.  In a briefing on Monday the health agencies of the country said that about 51 patients who have defeated the deadly virus have tested positive again. Jeong Eun-kyeong, director-general of the Korean CDC said, the chances of relapse are high rather the person getting infected. Continuing further he said, “While we are putting more weight on reactivation as the possible cause, we are conducting a comprehensive study on this,” Jeong said. “There have been many cases when a patient during treatment will test negative one day and positive another.”

South Korea with its innovative techniques has managed to accelerate its testing process  with one world’s most expansive testing programs and a tech-driven approach to tracing infections has seen Korea contain its epidemic without lockdowns or shuttering businesses. Meanwhile, China has again reported emergence of domestic cases with majority of them being the ones who have recovered successfully from COVID-19. Some may argue that it may be due to the inconsistency in tests.On the other hand medical experts are racing against time to find more about the spread of COVID-19 as most the virus carriers do not display symptoms. South Korea reported 27 more cases of the Covid-19 on Friday. No case was confirmed from Daegu, once the epicentre of the viral spread for the first time in 52 days.
