Take care of your staff: I&B ministry to media houses

(IANS) In view of the rising cases of coronavirus in India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday wrote to media institutions advising them to take precautionary measures against the dissemination of the virus.

New Delhi, April 22 In view of the rising cases of coronavirus in India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday wrote to media institutions advising them to take precautionary measures against the dissemination of the virus.

The ministry has also asked the media institutions to take care of their employees who go out in the field and report.

The letter written by G.C. Aron, director of the I&B Ministry, said, in view of a number of media persons getting infected with the virus in recent days, it is necessary that they take precautions while reporting from hotspots and containment zones.

The Ministry has also advised reporters, camerapersons, photographers to take care of their health on priority basis.

The I&B Ministry's advisory has come after a number of media persons were infected with the Covid-19 disease in Mumbai and other parts of the country while covering stories.

At least 53 media persons from Mumbai have tested positive for coronavirus and some in other parts of the country, too.

The Delhi government has said that it will start COVID-19 testing for media persons from Wednesday,
