Pilots ejected safely after a US military fighter jet EA-18G Growler Boeing crashed into San Diego Harbor in California on Wednesday (US local time), February 12. The incident took place at around 10.15 am when a jet dived into the water. The San Diego Fire and Rescue Department said that the jet landed in the waves just off Shelter Island, a neighbourhood located directly across the bay from Naval Air Station North Island.
According to the reports, both pilots were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, there were no reports of their injuries. The US Coast Guard said that both pilots landed in the water and were rescued by a nearby fishing boat.
They were in the water for only a minute before being transported to the hospital, where they are in stable condition. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
